Spock's Beard (a barba de Spock) é uma banda norte-americana de rock progressivo. 

O nome surgiu de um episódio de Star Trek: A Série Original, onde o capitão Kirk e outros oficiais entram num universo paralelo, onde Spock tem uma barba. A brincadeira foi feita para o primeiro álbum, cujas músicas, segundo os artistas, "parecem ter vindo de um universo paralelo". 

Formada em 1992 pelos irmãos Alan e Neal Morse, a banda lançou seu primeiro álbum em 1995, com um estilo que recorria ao rock sinfônico da década de 1970, especialmente de bandas como Genesis e Gentle Giant, e uma certa influência pop, muitas vezes assemelhando-se a Marillion ou The Flower Kings. Apesar disso, o leque de estilos em que a banda poderia se encaixar é grande, pois algumas músicas diferem-se muito de outras.

A saída de Neal Morse em 2002 decepcionou vários fãs. Mesmo assim, a banda continua ativa e já lançou três álbuns sem o cantor.

Jane's Addiction é uma banda de metal alternativo formada em Los Angeles, USA, em 1985. 

A banda nasceu na Califórnia, em 1985, com os amigos Perry Farrell (vocal), Eric Avery (baixo) e Dave Navarro (guitarra). Eles se reuniram para tocar rock’n’roll influenciado pelo hardcore, metal, rock psicodélico, funk e até jazz, uma criatividade que era embalada ainda pelas letras de Farrel, que iam da ironia ao enigmático. The Jesus and Mary Chain é uma banda de rock alternativo da Escócia, cujas músicas eram compostas pela dupla de irmãos Jim Reid e William Reid, formada em 1984 e que voltou aos palcos em 2007, após uma pausa de oito anos. 

Ficaram conhecidos por unir melodias inspiradas no rock dos anos 60 (The Velvet Underground, Beach Boys, The Who) ao som sujo e distorcido criado com pedais e amplificadores. 

Os shows ao vivo eram notórios pela indiferença da banda em relação à plateia. Jim Reid chegava a tocar de costas para o público e alguns shows duravam apenas dez minutos. No fim dos anos 80, a Universidade Politécnica de Londres foi palco de uma revolta do público contra a banda. Os pagantes destruíram o auditório da Universidade, em uma onda de violência que expôs os irmãos Reid aos holofotes da mídia especializada.

Mahal é reconhecido mundialmente como músico de blues com dois prêmios Grammy, uma mistura de várias formas da world music em suas fronteiras.
